How might we encourage public transportation (bus and metrolink) use by undergraduates attending Washington University in St. Louis’ Danforth Campus?
Revised Problem Statement:
How can we teach WashU underclassmen about the Metro and Bus system and encourage them to use public transport to explore different neighborhoods in St. Louis?
Initial questions surrounding problem:
- How can we define transit corridors that university students take?
- What are the main pain points (safety, travel time) that matter to university students?
- How do perceptions of public transit change from freshman year to senior year?
- How can we work within the confines of current Metro expansion plans?
Improve the navigation system through a system of:
- Maps
- Signs
- Redesigned UPass
- Redesigned bus stops
- Storyboard (rider experience)
